As the name suggests, this album is a mix of upbeat jazz standards and cool blues. I'm very proud of this album, it represents 30 years of my life as a fine jazz vocalist.

And as befits that status, I have with me three of the finest jazz musicians in Australia. Roger Frampton on piano (Roger passed away 2 years ago so this album is now a collectors piece) Jonathan Zwartz on acoustic bass and Warren Trout Jr on drums.

When I was young, anyone over 30 was veritably ancient!! And now that I am 57, anyone under 30 is a child!! Strange how our perceptions change. I celebrated my 50th Birthday by releasing this album - it is a profound expression of my love of life, with all its ups and downs. As I age, (gracefully I hope!) I recognise the rhythms, times when I feel low are merely times before I feel exuberant again, only to know that as the moon changes, so will my mood.

The songs on this album are my favourite standards - songs I have sung many thousands of times yet which still inspire me each and every time I sing them. That is the true measure of a great song. The quality of the recording at SONY under the skillful hand of Ross A'Hern does justice to the musicians and to the Goddess given voice I am fortunate enough to possess.

The tracks are:
Moondance
Night and Day
Misty
City Beat
Sister
Favourite Things
Walk Away Blues
My Funny Valentine
Georgia
I've Got You Under My Skin
What a Difference a Day Makes
Built for Comfort
Route 66

So pour yourself your favourite libation, relax, spin the disc and enjoy!

THE EDGE - Arts and Entertainment - SYDNEY STAR OBSERVER
You only have to catch the first few bars of the opening track, a sparky version of Moondance, and you know you're in for a good time.

Lamerduc's flexible jazzy vocals and her great studio trio set the scene for some"hot and mellow".

Particularly welcome is the playing of Roger Frampton, one of Australia's foremost jazz pianists. He contributes to making this album a real music album, a million miles from the insipid jazz noodlings you might have expected after noting the names of many standards on the list (Night and Day, Misty, My Funny Valentine). His solos take off in ways that are inventive and unpredictable.

But Lamerduc's voice stars throughout, showing great control and artistry. And she happily handles the blues as well. Both the Willie Dixon classic Built for Comfort and Sister from The Color Purple are always favourites in Lamerduc's live performances. Fans will appreciate her gutsy versions here.

And of course she makes no bones about the fact that her songs are about women, as befits her dyke diva status. But this isn't exclusive music, it's a dyke slightly deconstructing the usual repertoire.

Ending the CD on a hot note is Route66 a great workout for the whole band. Get hip to my kindly tip - pick up a copy now!
